Well, the candy from last night clearly showed up in her BG, today, although not bad...enough, I think, to guarantee that her HA1c will be more to the doctor's liking next appointment; enough so that we'll probably do sweets in an every-other-day mode through the holidays, depending on movement. We'll see how it goes.
As well, the vigorous movement at Bashford Court yesterday wore her out, so the situation this morning was: "How about another hour?" when I went in to awaken her at 1230. I gave her this, then, when I went in at 1330, she asked for "a little more time". I gave her until 1400. Still, it was hard to even get her hand over the edge of the bed for BG testing, as you can see. But, we had a good day, although low key.
Breakfast: Substitution of left over corned beef hash for bacon.
Nap: Yes, I allowed one. She was only down for a bit less than an hour from 1730 - 1815. When she awoke, she had somehow compromised her right knee and was finding it difficult to walk. I fastened the heavy duty knee brace on her, helped her into the living room, gave her lunch and, since her knee was obviously suffering (I could see a bright red pressure bruise on the inside of her knee), with her lunch, V-8 juice with 1 tsp curry powder and peanuts, I gave her a 200 mg ibuprofen.
I didn't worry about getting her into and out of the bathroom every two hours. I knew the two pairs of paper underwear would "catch all falling stars".
Dinner: Fake sushi, this time with little shrimps on top of half of them, plenty of soy sauce and plenty of spicy ginger Asian dressing with a slice of honeydew melon to chase the wasabi on the shrimp sushi. Also gave her another 200 mg ibuprofen at this time, after trying her on standing up and discovering that, while better, her knee was still pretty iffy.
ovement occurred at 1430, right after she went into the bathroom for bathing: Fairly poor volume; excellent consistency; very easy elimination; very easy clean-up.
She retired at 2330, as usual. Her light went out at 0015, 9/20/06. She asked me to "let her sleep in" tomorrow. I'll check on her 1300 and we'll take it from there. I'm curious to see if we'll get out in the yard, tomorrow. Didn't happen today, which is probably just as well.
