Grand Canyon

- Commentary: This is one of those subtle, quiet movies that I love and Mom endures. I've only watched it with her once. At the end of the movie she said, "Why did they go to the Grand Canyon?"
So, I started to explain in my best 'student of film' answer and realized that she thought something eye catching was going to happen at the Grand Canyon, like in Thelma & Louise but thought she'd missed it. "No," I said, "you didn't miss any of the movie. The Grand Canyon is a metaphor."
"Oh," she said, with that ironic side glance that tells me she's thinking, "This is one of those movies you have to work at. No thanks."
