Ultra Sound Carotid Duplex - Bilateral: 8/2/04

EXAM:  US CAROTID DUPLEX - BILATERAL

REASON FOR EXAM:  FAINTING, DIZZINESS

INTERPRETATION:

COMPARISON:  09/25/02

CLINICAL HISTORY:  Dementia, right-sided weakness

TECHNIQUE:  Real time ultrasound and doppler interrogation of the cervical carotids was performed

FINDINGS:  Real time examination of the right carotid system demonstrates moderate calcified plaque in the distal common carotid into the carotid bulb but, otherwise, no significant stenosis or occlusion. Doppler interrogation demonstrates the following peak systolic velocities:

MAXIMAL FLOW VELOCITIES:

Real time examination of the right left carotid system demonstrates calcified plaque in the distal common carotid into carotid bulb but no significant stenosis or occlusion. Doppler interrogation demonstrates the above peak systolic velocities.
Antegrade flow is demonstrated in the bilateral vertebrals.
Mild calcified plaque formation but negative for hemodynamic significant stenosis bilaterally
